The Honors College at the University of Indianapolis is designed to provide academically challenging opportunities to all students who wish to strengthen their university education. For highly motivated and creative students, the Honors College offers classes, independent study, research under guidance of a faculty member, leadership and service opportunities.
The wide range of experiences associated with the Honors College affords students the opportunity to shape individualized programs and to exchange ideas with other outstanding students.
The Honors College is open to students in all majors and schools, including those enrolled in pre-professional programs.
Students fulfilling the requirements of the Honors College graduate with distinction. This is an academic honor bestowed at graduation and is a part of the student's permanent record. A copy of each approved Honors project is bound and housed in the permanent collection of the Krannert Memorial Library at the University of Indianapolis.
Entering freshmen are invited to participate in the Honors College if they enter the university as a Presidential Scholar, a Dean's Scholar, or Lugar Scholar with Distinguished Admission. Students make formal application to Honors College in their second semester for Full Admission to the College. Application is also open to transfer and current students with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 and at least 28 earned semester hours.
